The island is located 4-5 km off the North Queensland Coast offshore from Mission Beach between Townsville and Cairns and about 6 km south of Dunk Island. Access to Bedarra Island is via Dunk Island where there is an airstrip, and takes about 20 minutes in a launch.
Walking is the only form of transport and the focus is on peace and relaxation. The food is top quality with an emphasis on fresh seafood and exotic tropical fruits with a menu that changes daily.
