Have a Whitsunday Honeymoon On Daydream Island

Honeymoon Destinations >>

The Whitsunday Islands are one of Australia’s favourite honeymoon destinations, and Daydream Island is the closest of the 74 islands to the mainland shore at Shute Harbour and Airlie Beach. It also features one of the oldest resorts in the Whitsundays, which has recently been refurbished.

Five kilometres offshore, Daydream Island is around a kilometre long and half a kilometre wide. It has secluded beaches, coral reefs, stunning rainforest and all the activities expected from an island resort. In addition to the idyllic setting the climate is wonderful. Daydream Island Resort is situated the same distance south of the equator as the famous Waikiki Beach in Hawaii is situated north of the equator, providing perfect weather conditions.

Although fairly small, the island can still offer couples plenty of private spots. Daydream’s famous Lovers Cove is a private sheltered inlet with a white coral beach that offers you a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef just a short swim from shore. You'll be able to snorkel directly off the beach to the fringing reef or go sea kayaking, water skiing or even windsurfing. Once the sun sets and the stars come out, Lovers Cove becomes the perfect location for an intimate moonlit dinner for two and the resort staff will happily create a memorable setting for you to enjoy your special moment together.

There are also several walking tracks on the island. The centre and highest point of the island is a small but dense jungle of tropical vegetation inhabited by parrots and tiny sunbirds. Other activities include sailboards, jet-ski, parasailing, coral viewing, reef fishing, tennis, volleyball, badminton, croquet, plus there is a 19-hole mini golf course and an open air cinema.

A popular escape for newlyweds is the Daydream Rejuvenation Spa. It offers a wide range of massage styles – relaxation, therapeutic, aromatherapy and reflexology among others – and has a couples massage room which is always a popular option. It is one of Australia’s most advanced day spas, featuring state of the art facilities, luxury marine based skin products and 16 individual treatment rooms, many with private balconies or stunning views over the tranquil blue waters of the Whitsunday passage.

Whether you like lazing around, or a variety of land-based or water sports, you will find something for everyone on Daydream Island, so why not book your honeymoon package now!
